Bags and food?

Post by NewbieOfCons » Wed Jan 26, 2011 1:10 pm

Are we aloud to bring our own food in from outside? Or do we have to buy food from the convention? And may we bring in bags? Either as a prop or to hold things (like food :D ) Thank you!

As far as I am aware, as long as nothing has drastically, drastically changed from every other con I've been to, food and bags will be fine.

There are tons of pretty inexpensive restaurants within walking distance, so while you can bring your own food, don't feel like you have to subsist on ramen (even if that's a college campus staple).

There are two restaurants located within the Penn Stater, so food is available. If you choose to bring food in from outside of the hotel you are more than welcome to enjoy it in your hotel room. If you are not staying at the Penn Stater, and wish to bring food it is not allowed within any of the rooms that programming is taking place. I just want to reaffirm that Setsucon will be in the Penn Stater this year, which is NOT in downtown state college, this means that restaurants are not within walking distance, however delivery options are available through most restaurants in the state college area.

Bags will be allowed as both props and as a means of storage.

D'oh. I was mentally placing the hotel where Toftrees is.

Good point Maggie. Alot of us use Lion Menus. It's a great site, all the information in one place, and it's got a pretty good interface for choosing what you want.

Don't forget too if you do want to go to a restaurant and sit down, it's easy to find the Red Link bus schedule. It takes you to campus and then the restaurants are a short distance away.

CATA (Centre Area Transportation Authority) offers the CATABus service. The route of service that will likely be of most interest to those staying at The Penn Stater who do not wish to drive to campus or downtown State College would be the Red Link. The Red Link is free for anyone to ride, and will be operating on a "Full Service" schedule on the dates of Setsucon. Below are some relevant links: I hope that helps!
