Registration costs are waived for a Veteran, if their panel is accepted at Setsucon 2017. For those that do not qualify as Veteran panelist, you can still be reimbursed for panels after the convention. Please see the Panels Page for full details.

Setsucon has arranged for a discounted room rate of $89/night (plus taxes) at Toftrees. When reserving a room, please be sure to call the hotel directly and mention that you are attending Setsucon and would like the group rate. Setsucon has reserved the entire hotel for its room block, so be sure to mention Setsucon or the hotel may say that they have no rooms available. Furthermore, Toftress will not be taking online reservations for this room block.
For its tenth anniversary event, Setsucon will take place on January 30-31, 2016 at the Toftrees Golf Resort & Conference Center in State College, Pennsylvania. We had a signed contract to hold Setsucon 2016 at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, however, The Penn Stater refused to honor this agreement. We spent months trying to work with The Penn Stater and other departments at Penn State to remain at The Penn Stater to no avail. Our only choices were to find a new venue or to cancel the event. In order to continue to hold Setsucon, we opted to find a new venue. To accommodate the smaller size of our new venue, we will have to institute an attendance cap of 700 attendees, as recommended by the staff at Toftrees. While we are disappointed that we must institute a cap, our priority is to ensure that our attendees can safely enjoy the convention. We deeply apologize for being unable to announce this information sooner. Although this news may come as a disappointment, we hope that our attendees will continue to support our event during this transition. We will not be raising our registration prices, and Pre-Registration will be opening on Sunday, October 25, 2015.
The Setsucon staff and I apologize for the early closure of the Saturday night dance, the Setsu Odori. Our staff received several complaints of venue damage and inappropriate behavior at the dance. For your safety, we made the difficult decision to end the dance early. Once again, we apologize and we hope that you enjoy the rest of your time at Setsucon.
