AMV Contest

What makes the AMV Contest truly special is that you are the judge! Every attendee in the audience has the opportunity to vote for their favorites in each category and the all around Best In Show winner! If you are looking to judge the complete contest, make sure to arrive early to grab your seat, stick around for all videos (from start to finish), and take notes during the event to make sure you remember everything that happened. Reminder – you must be there for the entire category in order to vote for a category winner, and must be there for the entire contest to vote for a Best In Show winner.

While judging, it is good to look at the contest through a technical lense, looking at the synchonization of the video and audio (look for movement in the video that lands exactly on beat, ask yourself if the cuts match the energy of the song), the creative storytelling and concept (does the narrative pull you in to the atmosphere that the editor intended), category specific excellence (how well does the video fit the theme of the category), and your own personal enjoyment of the AMV (did it give that wow factor that will make you want to watch it again and again).
