Are you ready to see what characters can find the match of their dreams? The Setsucon Cosplay Dating Game (18+ Event) allows your favorite characters from anime, video games, manga, and the like to find their happily ever after from a series of suitors… or at the very least find someone for the night. Make sure to join us for the Cosplay Dating Game to experience an event that is sure to laughing and entertained as our characters give love a try!

If you are looking to participate in the Cosplay Dating Game, you can participate as a potential date (suitor), which are selected from cosplayers in the audience during the event, or as a bachelor/bachelorette, which will be picked from a series of applications.

 

Cosplay Dating Game bachelor/bachelorette applications will be open from October 17th, 2024 until December 5th, 2024. Please check out the guidelines and information about the Cosplay Dating Game below and sign up to be a potential bachelor/bachelorette using the application at the bottom of the page.

Cosplay Dating Game Rules

The Cosplay Dating Game is an amazing event of hilarity and random moments. To keep the event entertaining and safe for all, we ask the following rules to be followed by selected bachelors/bachelorettes and potential dates (chosen from the audience):

  • All participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of Setsucon.
  • Potential dates must be in cosplay and act as their character for the entire show. While the bachelor/bachelorette’s questions are scripted, the responses and dialogue are improved.
  • Potential dates will be chosen randomly from the crowd at the beginning of each round.
  • All participants must be comfortable with this being an improv event; there is an expectation that you will be speaking a lot without any preparation.
  • All participants shall share the timeslot; please allow others to answer questions as well and do not monopolize the time.
  • The bachelor/bachelorette will not be able to see the potential dates until the end of the round; please do not peek.
  • Even with the 18+ rating of the event, the questions and answers shall not mention any of the following topics:
    • Major spoilers for any media are not allowed (i.e. character death, plot twist, etc.) unless they are extremely well known.
    • Slurs of any kind are not allowed.
    • Hate speech of any kind (i.e. racism, homophobia, etc.) is not allowed.
    • Mention or hinting about sexual assault is not allowed.
  • The Setsucon Dress Code is in effect for all participants.
  • Each round will have that round’s bachelor/bachelorette ask 3 potential dates (suitors) 3 questions each, with the round ending with the bachelor/bachelorette choosing one of the suitors.
  • Rounds will last around 10 minutes and the timing will be aided by the emcee.
  • This event is purely for entertainment purposes. No real dating is involved with this event.
  • This event is not consent to touch another individual without permission. This includes unwanted physical contact such as hugging, kissing, touching, slapping, or anything of the sort. Failure to follow this policy will results in immediate removal from the event and may result in immediate removal from the convention.

Guidelines for Being the Bachelor/Bachelorette

Are you looking to be one of our chosen bachelors/bachelorettes? Check out the following guidelines and apply below for a chance to participate:

  • Applications will be open from October 17th, 2024 until December 5th, 2024.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of Setsucon.
  • Shall be in cosplay and be able to act out as their potential character for the entire round.
  • Must prepare at least 3 questions to ask potential suitors. Cosplay staff may reject any questions that do not follow our guidelines. You may prepare more than 3 questions in case some are rejected in the application process.
  • Will remain backstage until the round starts to avoid seeing their potential suitors prior to conclusion of the round.

Please complete the below application to the best of your ability and as complete as possible. This application, and the contents held within, shall be used by our Cosplay Team to review your qualification as a bachelor/bachelorette. Please ensure that you read all policies and information ahead of applying, as submitting an application binds you to these policies.

 

Note: applications are only for the role of bachelor/bachelorette; potential dates/suitors will be chosen from the audience at random during the event.
