General Rules

Setsucon cannot wait to see your awesome cosplay! Make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules before applying.

  • Cosplayers must make at least 70% of the costume. If items were bought, they must be heavily modified by the cosplayer in some way.
  • Reference material is not required, but it is highly encouraged. Possible references include, but are not limited to, photographs, drawings, planning sketches, or diagrams. The judges cannot judge the costume for accuracy if reference material is not provided. Judges may not be knowledgeable of the cosplayed character. Therefore, references are required to ensure fair judgment.
  • There will be 3 divisions in the Hall Cosplay Contest. They are as follows:
    • Novice- up to 9 costumes or no awards
    • Journeyman- 10 to 19 costumes or 1-3 awards
    • Craftsman- 20+ costumes or 3+ awards
  • Judges’ awards and honorable mentions do not count towards divisions.
  • Judges reserve the right to bump a cosplayer up in division if the judges deem it necessary.
  • You must be a registered member attending the convention to participate. Judges will check to see that all competing cosplayers have official Setsucon 2024 badges.
  • Props must be within Setsucon’s height and weight limits of 7 ft (any direction) and under 50 lbs.
  • Cosplays must comply with the Cosplay Policy.

The time for cosplayers to gather backstage for this will be announced during Hall Cosplay judging.
